New Links for the blog roll

Hi!  Just quickly adding a note that I’ll be adding a few new links to the blog roll thanks to John Scalzi’s absence yesterday.

First up, we have Charles Stross’ blog.  I thoroughly enjoyed his 2007 Novel “Halting State” and I’m definitely enjoying his views on the world, books and writing.

Next we have New York Times’ Bestselling author Patrick Rothfuss’s blog.  I’ve been recommended “The Name of the Wind” by dozens of people, a myriad of online postings and even a few webcomics.  I’ve resolved to pick it up in the near future, in the meantime I find him down to earth and pleasant to read, so I intend on being a regular reader of the site.

Another link which grabbed me is Sam Sykes’ blog.  The interesting thing (to me) is that I am completely unfamiliar with Sam Sykes’ work, I have no specific recommendations on his books from anyone I know.   I browsed the blog for the heck of it, on a whim.  This post sold me.  It covered some issues I have with the popular advice “write what you know”.  I fully intend to go over these issues in a future post, meanwhile Sykes’ words on the subject are quite interesting.

Finally, there’s Inkpunks.  The only writer on the site I’m familiar with is Erika Holt, whom I’ve heard interviewed.  I don’t usually browse multi-writer sites much.  I can’t really give you a good reason why, but this one is making a good first impression and it captivated me enough to make me browse through the archives a bit.  There’s good advice there on the business of writing.

Enjoy the links!  Comment!  Suggest some of your own!
