Among the many people and things that are keeping this crazy summer project of mine afloat (thanks to all of you out there btw!) I have to say that the very best in the software/tool category is yWriter.
pet peeve

I’ve been reading a few books and not a few articles about the writing process. I tend to do that when I’m not writing for one reason or another, since it keeps me connected and eventually pulls me back.
A fair number of these articles and books, however, have some advice, or ideas about who or why people should be writing that just annoy the heck out of me.
It’s a massive pet peeve that I thought I would enjoy discussing here.
I know in this post I said I wasn’t interested in audiobooks.
I’m not saying they are bad, just that I, personally, and I alone, am not really interested right now. They can be wonderful ways of getting a story across, especially in this age of endless commute.
But.
STOP SAYING YOU ARE READING A BOOK IF YOU ARE JUST PLAYING THE AUDIO!
You are NOT reading! You are listening to someone reading TO YOU. If “reading” was the correct word to use, then my daughter is now a prodigy who is able to “read” at 13 months!
It’s a pet peeve.
