We’re in the final stretch!

It’s Tuesday and it feels like Wednesday or later, this is the rare time where this is a good thing.

I cruised by 35K yesterday and my current goal is to hit 40K by tomorrow night (natch).  I’ve got some good stuff on deck and I can easily fill 15K with it.   I am good to go.

Writing group on Sunday was fun and productive.  The weather was perfect to sit outside, so I made the most of it.  I got to discuss writing and writing related matters with two of the most intelligent people I know.  I got some great feedback as well.

They managed to put into words what I sensed was wrong with my short story “Kenneth” and I intend to do a serious rewrite in September taking those notes in consideration.  That was a great learning experience.  I will try to do better and I can’t wait to see the outcome!

We brainstormed my WIP and came up with some really great ideas and some things that I need to think about.  More and more, I see that I’ve neglected my characters in planning this thing.  It’ll be something to consider when I rewrite in a few months.

I also got a chance to discuss their works, which is something that I’m very interested in.  I want to help as much as they help me.  In helping them, I learn.

All in all, it was a success and charred meat was had in celebration!   It made for a great day in a great weekend.

Day two.  It’s 7h17am.   I am up to 3000 words.  I feel good.

Canada Day BBQ at the Basement Office house was a rousing success.   Good filling food, great friends and lots of good talk and as a bonus, two little ones running around, it was a great day.

Once everyone left, we cleaned up, put the baby down and I was ready to collapse.  It took everything I had to get another 1000 words down, but I’m proud to say I did it.  I might not have made it if I was starting from zero as my original plan was.

Today is no less busy.  We’re heading to my parents’ for lunch and the plan is to take my daughter to see Ostriches and Alpacas north of here.  She’s a little young, but she should enjoy it all the same.

I’m sure I’ll be dead when we get back.

This is why I’m very glad to have another 1000 words down this morning. Woo!

And it begins! Let the words FLOW!

It’s 6h40AM.  Yes, I know it’s early.

We have a Canada Day BBQ scheduled for 11.   I spent the better part of yesterday doing house work.  We’re expecting about 15-20 people.  The burgers are ready.  The propane grill is fueled.  The weather looks like it will hold.  We’re good to go.

It’s also the very first day of my insane challenge, the July session of Camp NaNoWriMo.

I have 1031 words down.

I’m very happy with this start.

This means I’ll have 1000 words more to put down tonight after everyone is gone and I am full of grilled meat.

I’m ok with this.
