I’m a few thousand shy of the number I should be at today, but I’m not worried. Things are going great!

Novel writing
Day 3 dawns (well dawned a few minutes ago) and so far I’m still on track. I’ve met my second 2K goal. I’ve cruised past 4K without too much anxiety and I’m pleased.
Boy am I glad it’s Friday though. It’s been a long week.
I’ve got a slight case of the butterflies.
Tonight, we’ll take kiddo out in search of that sweet sweet Halloween swag (of which I will struggle not to partake, damn being diabetic). There are only so many of these evenings left as she is growing so damn fast!
After that…National Novel Writing Month!
Are you starting at the midnight hour? I’m going to try. Tradition and all.
How are your preparations going?
It’s been 19 days since I posted about my preparations. Turns out I don’t follow instructions (even my own) too well. I’ve been all over the place mentally, emotionally and physically. Thinking, taking notes and not really getting much done. I had (still do) high hopes this November would kickstart my writing, but I wasn’t feeling it.
As always, a conversation with my SO pointed out what I wasn’t seeing.
It’s mid-October (almost) and stuff is starting to percolate.
In an unusual confluence of coffee and a rare good night of sleep, I’m starting to plan for November.
It’s nothing too dramatic, but I’ve given it a lot of thought and I’ve come up with a few things I feel I should do. We will see if they work.
Enough’s enough. I’m going back to the one sure thing that gets me writing.
(Thanks to my lovely wife)
Exciting!
K.M. Weiland asked me if I would be willing to read an ARC of her new book ‘Structuring Your Novel: Essential Keys for Writing an Outstanding Story’ ahead of the August 25th release date and give some feedback and/or review it.
I really enjoyed her other book, ‘Outlining Your Novel: Map Your Way to Success’ (It’s becoming painfully obvious that I’m more of a planner than a pantser) so I was thrilled and happy to agree.
Keep an eye on the site for some thoughts about the book. I’ve casually flipped through it already and I like what I see so far. I intend to give it a serious read on my vacation two weeks from now (AFTER I catch up on all the Writing Group reading I’ve been letting slide).
K.M. Weiland is the host of the Wordplay podcast, and her website ‘Wordplay: Helping Writers Become Authors’ is here.
That’s right. I made it past 100 days.
(Right now, the streak stands at 104 days with a 400 word daily quota)
Read on to see how it’s going.
My consecutive days of writing streak stands at 81. I’m at 32K in my current WIP.
I’m closing in on 100.
