So wow, two big family days in a row. First the BBQ and yesterday we were out and about all day with Anna. We checked out a pretty cool reptile house, she got to cuddle up with a snake and touch a tarantula. Being all of 14 months old, she had nothing but wonder for these things and no fear at all. I saw her pet a big dog, goggle at Alpacas and generally enjoy the world.
I also got to see a friend’s new baby girl as well. It’s nice that she’s joining us in this adventure we call parenthood.
The only downside is that coming home I got the news that an old friend had passed away. It put a damper on things to be sure.
Between the news and the day, it was extremely tough to get that 1000 words down. I did it, 100 words at a time, with gentle prompting from my ever loving wife and a wonderful friend. With support like that, 100K should be easy!
It’s Sunday morning, 6am. It’s very quiet. I’ve been up for a little while but I gave myself a break. I goofed off a bit and now I’m settling down to write. Usually for NaNoWriMo, there are scheduled writing jams on Sundays in Montreal and in the past I relied on these to keep up my word count. This summer, well, they aren’t very likely so I’ll try and rely on a steady 2K a day instead to be sure I’m ahead of schedule so Sundays have less pressure.
It’s a new day. Today I’m aiming for 2000 words again, but I’m also aiming to put my butt in the chair a bit more than JUST for those 2000 words.
We’ll see what happens. I’m having a lot of fun with this story, but it needs a lot more outlining and I need to figure out what the ending will be or I’ll be stuck with a lack of direction a few thousand words from now.
There’s no better feeling than reaching that magic 2000…except perhaps writing more!
I hear that! Got another thousand down just now.
