I posted my thoughts on the first lesson here, hopefully I’ll have something about lesson 2 soon.
I’d like to give you this great post I found that sums up the entire course pretty well. I know some of you have expressed an interest in my experience, so think of this as a bonus:
The first part of the post she describes her reasons for taking the course, her initial suspicions etc. If you aren’t interested, you can skip further down to the meat of the post for her impressions of the course…which I completely agree with so far.
I wanted to comment on the first part.To be honest, I came to the course from a very different direction so it’s hard for me to imagine my “scam radar” going off like hers did and having to be convinced. The course came highly recommended and when I did my research, it turns out that I HAVE read some of Holly Lisle’s books in the past and Forward Motion is a forum created by her. Nothing I saw pointed to a scam, there are no red flags, no guaranteed promises of instant stardom and frankly, she doesn’t seem too interested in bleeding me dry and she offers a whole lot for the price of the course.
There’s an active private forum community that covers all aspects of the course and Holly Lisle is active in there. There’s tons of additional documentation and examples for the lessons I’m seeing so far. There’s the private workgroups, which are people who are starting around the same time as yourself, and is a great place to find encouragment and motivation. The course materials themselves are detailed, this isn’t your usual web course. This is a full and polished curriculum.
I’ve just received lesson 2. The lessons come once a week.
I’m nowhere near finished lesson 1. I had a small moment of panic, until I read some of the forum postings.
You can take as long as you wish to finish the course, and I’ve seen some who do the course multiple times using multiple manuscripts. Once the course materials are available to you, you can login anytime and have access to them (indefinitely I think). I see no time limits. In fact, I’m told lesson 1 will be the most work intensive and take the longest.
I don’t feel so bad now.
I’ve cheated and read ahead to lesson 2 and it builds on the work done in lesson 1, so I can’t comment in detail, yet….check back later and I will post a detailed review of lesson 2.
